According to the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate, (AFIRE) 2022 International Investor Survey Report, international investors are very interested in the US commercial real estate market, in both the short-term and long-term.
80% of investors surveyed plan to increase their US exposure over the next 3 to 5 years.
Quality of available assets, ability to diversify investment portfolios, income return on investment, and ease of doing business enhance demand for US commercial real estate. Some deterring factors include the uncertain return to work trends, and interest rate fluctuations.
The most popular asset categories from this report are multifamily properties, life sciences, industrial, self storage, and medical. Areas likely to see the same level of investment in the past include senior housing, infrastructure, hotel, and retail space.
