Concerns over the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron, have caused Google to push back the required return to work date until after the New Year.

Chris Rackow, Google’s security Vice President, comments “We will be re-learning our working rhythms together in 2022, which brings new opportunities and new challenges as we experiment with more flexible ways of working.”

Back in May Google allowed 20% of its employees to work from home permanently, and shifted to a hybrid model for the remaining employees.

Amidst the setback in returning to work, 90% of Google’s offices in the US are currently open and inhibited by 40% of their US employees.

Google has done nothing but expand its office footprint in New York since Covid-19, despite the pushback in requiring folks to show up. Now is a great time to acquire space.
