Public auctioning of the contents of closed shopping malls are becoming more common as malls close permanently. The Metrocenter, a mall based in Phoenix, which closed in June had its contents auctioned off.  Mall directories, fire extinguishers, mannequins, and the contents of an empty Victoria’s Secret were some of the fine articles cast away.

 

Who buys this stuff?  Buyers of surplus items along with some collectors! There is an emerging collector market for neon signs:  perfect for your living room.

 

What were once centers of bustling human life, commerce, and community are now becoming desolate empty carcasses of concrete and steel which will become the foundation for what is next.
